The enclosure commissioners in England and Wales hereby certify this to be
a new copy of the original award in testimony of which they have hereunto
caused the official seal to be a fixed this twenty fourth day of February
in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and fifty nine [24th
February 1859]
To all whom the presence shall come
I Edward Hewett of the parish of Winchfield in the county of Southampton, Land Surveyor, send greeting
Whereas the enclosure of Headley Common, Standford Common, Mill Chase Common and Lindford Chase Common situated in the parish of Headley in the county Southampton had been duly authorised under the provisions of the act of the enclosure in exchange and improvement of land
and whereas John Dawe of the parish of Headley in the county of Southampton, Land Surveyor, was appointed the valuer in the matter of the said enclosure and made the declaration required by the said acts
and whereas the said John Dawe having in the judgement of the enclosure commissioners for England and Wales neglected his duties as such valuer was by an order under the hands and seal of the said commissioners dated the sixth day of December one thousand eight hundred and fifty one (6th December 1851) removed from his set office of valuer
and whereas the said Edward Hewett have by an order under the seal of the said enclosure commissioners bearing date of the ninth day of December one thousand eight hundred and fifty one (9th December 1851) been appointed the valuer in the matter of the said enclosure in the stead of the said John Dawe and having made the declaration required by the said acts have duly held all necessary meetings and drawn up and sent to the said enclosure commissioners my report in writing in the matter of the said enclosure with maps marked A and B thereunto annexed and in all other respects complied with the provisions of the said acts
and whereas all such objections as have been made to the said report having been heard and all such enquiries having been made in relation thereto as the said enclosure commissioners have thought fit the said enclosure commissioners have authorised and the directed me to cause to be drawn up and engrossed on parchment my Award in the matter of such enclosure
now know ye that in pursuance of the provisions of the said acts and by virtue of the powers and authorities invested in the said Edward Hewett the valuer aforesaid to make and declare this to be my Award in the matter of the said enclosure and to show my Award I have annexed the maps marked A and B referred to by my said report
and I further declare that I have discontinued and stopped up the public roads and ways in the said Parish hereinafter particularly mentioned that is to say
the road or driftway passing over part of Grayshott Common and commencing near the enclosure of Sir Thomas Combe Miller Bt in Whitmore bottom numbered 969 on the tithe commutation map of Headley and extending thence along the south side of other enclosures of the said Sir Thomas Combe Miller numbered 965, 964, 961, 960 and 958 on the said tithe map to the Headley and Godalming Road at Grayshott
the footway commencing at the enclosure of the School Trustees in Whitmore bottom numbered 966 on the said tithe map thence into the road or driftway last mentioned near the enclosure numbered 965 on the said tithe map
the road or driftway leading from the house of William Lawrence in Whitmore Bottom thence in a westwardly and southwardly direction over Grayshott Common into the Headley and Godalming road near the house and garden now or late of Henry Robinson numbered 975 in the said Tithe map
the road or drift way commencing in the said Headley and Godalming road near to the end of the last mentioned road or drift way thence to the south east angle of the enclosure of William Hill numbered 972 on the Tithe map
the road or drift way leading from the house of William Lawrence in Whitmore bottom thence crossing the Headley and Godalming Road thence over common land sold to James Barnes with the public road leading from Whitmore bottom to Pitfold at the cottage and garden of John Lawrence
the road or drift way leading from the encroachment of William Lawrence in Whitmore bottom thence over the waste along the south side of the said encroachment numbered 969 on the said tithe map
the road or drift way extending over the waste along the east side of an enclosure of the said Sir Thomas Combe Miller numbered 950 on the said tithe map
the road or drift way commencing twenty yards west of the junction of the Headley to Godalming and Wakeners Wells Road at Grayshott thence along the south and west sides of enclosures of Grayshott farm numbered 950, 949, 948, 932 and 931 on the said tithe map
the footway commencing in the last mentioned road or drift way near the southwest corner of the said enclosure numbered 931 on the said tithe map thence crossing the Headley and Godalming Road thence over the waste along the western side of enclosures now or late of William Bull numbered 928, 924 and 923 of the said tithe map into the Grayshott and Barford Road at the south side of the enclosure of the said Sir Thomas Combe Miller numbered 918 on the said tithe map
the footway commencing at the north east angle of an enclosure of the said Sir Thomas Combe Miller numbered 919 on the said tithe map and extending along the eastern side thereof over the waste into the Whitmore bottom and Barford Road
the footway commencing in the Whitmore bottom Road near the land of John Chalcraft numbered 914 on the said tithe map thence into the Whitmore bottom and Grayshott Road at the southeast angle of the said enclosure numbered 919
the road or Blind Lane leading from Plaster Farm to the common between old enclosures of the said Sir Thomas Combe Miller numbered 896, 897, 899, 900, 901, 905, 907and 878 on the said tithe map
the road or Blind Lane leading to the common commencing at the last mentioned road or Blind Lane near the North angle of the said enclosure numbered 896 thence passing between the said enclosure numbered 896 and other enclosures of the said Sir Thomas Combe Miller numbered 898, 895, 869 and 868 on the said tithe map
the road or drift way leading from the South West angle of the said enclosure and numbered 898 thence up the bottom to Grayshott terminating at the South West angle of the said enclosure numbered 918

the road from the house and garden of the late Thomas Charles Woodward numbered 276? on the said map thence in us southwardly direction to and terminating at the public road from Ayford to Headley Church at the back of the premises of Mr Henry Knight
the road from Mr Richardson's house in a southwardly direction by the side of the garden into the Headley and Bramshott Road at the Parish Pound
the public road at Lynford Chase commencing near the cottages of William Balchin? numbered 302 on the said map thence in a westerly direction across the land of Richard Chandler into the Headley and Farnham Road near Lynford Bridge
the public foot and bridleway commencing in the western portion of the Headley and Hindhead Road four hundred yards west of the old enclosure of William Butt numbered 928 on the said map thence in a Westerly direction into the Fuller's bottom road near the house now or late of Edward Shrubb numbered 78 on the said map
and at the road or driftway extending along the whole of the east side of Mill Chase common
And I have diverted the following public foot and bridle roads in the said Parish hereinafter particularly mentioned that is to say
the footway leading from Whitmore bottom towards Headley commencing at the Grayshott and Barford Road on Whitmore hill near the north-west? angle of the said enclosure numbered 918? on the said tithe map and thence across Headley common and into the new road leading from the Barley mow the hill into the Headley and Godalming Road and in lieu thereof I shall set out a new public footway commencing in the Grayshott and Barford Road at the point of junction there with of the Whitmore bottom Road and thence extended in a direct line across Headley common into the Headley and Godalming Road at the point of junction there with the said new road leading from Barley mow a hill which said new public footway is numbered 78 on the said map A and is hereinafter particularly described and set out
and so much of the footway and bridleway leading from Holly water towards Headley commencing near Holly water at a point in the said footway and bridleway ninety four yards or thereabouts East the south east angle of an old enclosure now or late of James Hunt numbered 220 on the said tithe map thence in an easterly direction over parts of the said land to be enclosed called Hanford common thence in the same direction over other parts of the said land sold to Samuel Greenaway and thence over other parts of the said land in two and crossing the public road from Petersfield to Headley thence over other parts of the said land into and terminating at the public road leading from Bramshott to Standford and Linford at a point in the said public road ninety yards or thereabouts east of the southeast angle of an old enclosure now or late of Richard Knight numbered 180 on the said tithe map and in lieu thereof I have set out a new public footway and bridleway commencing at a point in the said footway and bridleway leading from Holly water towards Headley ninety four yards or thereabouts east of the south east angle of the said old enclosure of James Hunt thence proceeding in a North easterly direction over part of the said land to be enclosed in two and terminating at the public road leading from Petersfield to Headley at the North West angle of the said land sold to the said Samuel Greenaway which said new public foot and bridleway is numbered two six four in the said map A and is hereinafter more particularly described as set out
