Walter Chapman, employer of Flora Thompson at Grayshott (37K)

Walter Chapman

He was the Sub Postmaster at Grayshott 1892-1901 and employed Flora as his Sub Office Assistant in September 1898. He was also a master carpenter and cabinet-maker.
She left his employment shortly before he stabbed his wife to death and was committed to Broadmoor for the rest of his life.

This picture was presented by his great niece, Mrs Yvonne Harris, who writes:—
This is the tragic Walter Chapman (my great uncle) who murdered his wife. My father [Berthold Chapman] looked very much like him.
